August was a month of practical progress: stronger cybersecurity readiness, better business continuity awareness, defined infrastructure upgrades, and more useful resources inside the PWP SYSTEMS Member Portal.
At PWP SYSTEMS, we remain focused on one operating principle: NO DEBT GROWTH. For us, that means building stable systems, investing carefully, and giving clients dependable support without unnecessary complexity. Your IT should help your business move faster: not create another operational burden.
If your team depends on Microsoft 365, VPN access, EDI workflows, cloud applications, CNC operations, project systems, or remote collaboration, reliability is not optional. It is the foundation.
See the Cost of Downtime Clearly
This month, we published a new thought-leadership resource for Chicagoland business owners and CEOs:
The $189,000 Mistake Too Many CEOs Make With Their IT
The article examines how reactive, break-fix IT can create a much larger financial problem than the repair invoice suggests. A slow computer, failed backup, compromised account, or unavailable ERP system can affect:
- Employee productivity and billable labor.
- Customer deliveries and service commitments.
- Manufacturing, warehouse, or job-site schedules.
- Emergency recovery and after-hours support costs.
- Revenue that cannot be recovered after a system outage.
The $189,000 figure is a practical risk model: not a claim that every business will experience the same loss. The point is direct: you cannot manage technology risk effectively if you have never measured what downtime costs your organization.
Use the IT Downtime Cost Calculator to start measuring your exposure. Then review your current backup, monitoring, security, and support model. Measure first. Fix what matters.
Access New Resources in the Member Portal
The PWP SYSTEMS Member Portal continues to become a more useful command center for client support, documentation, and operational guidance.
This month, we added a larger set of practical resources designed to help you identify risk before it becomes an expensive interruption:
- IT Downtime Cost Calculator: Estimate the financial impact of outages using your labor, revenue, and operational data.
- Shadow AI Risk Self-Assessment: Identify how employees may be using unsanctioned AI tools and where sensitive company data could be exposed.
- Ghost Account Audit Guide: Find inactive users, former employees, stale credentials, and overlooked access permissions.
- Remote Team Security Checklist: Strengthen MFA, endpoint protection, home-network practices, and remote access controls.
- Cyber Insurance Readiness Guide: Review the controls and documentation insurers commonly expect before issuing or renewing coverage.
- Compliance Starter Guide: Establish a practical starting point for requirements related to HIPAA, GLBA, CCPA, and broader data-protection responsibilities.

These resources are not designed to replace professional review. They are designed to make the first step easier. You can use them to become a wiz at identifying obvious gaps, preparing better questions, and giving your leadership team a clearer view of technology risk.
The Customer Portal also provides live ticket tracking, asset management, invoice transparency, project roadmaps, and one-click support. That visibility matters. A support relationship should not operate as an IT black box.
Build Cyber Insurance Readiness Before Renewal
Cyber insurance readiness remained a major focus throughout August. We are actively working with clients to review technical controls, documentation, and security procedures before those items become urgent renewal problems.
One example is ongoing readiness work with OxBox and MarshMMA. The process involves more than checking boxes. It requires a clear understanding of how your organization protects accounts, endpoints, backups, email, remote access, and administrative systems.
Our August cybersecurity work included:
- Cyber insurance readiness support: Connect insurer expectations to actual technical controls and evidence.
- Huntress account review: Validate account configuration, coverage, reporting, and visibility.
- MDR/EDR coverage: Continue monitoring and endpoint detection and response coverage across the client base.
- Access review: Identify stale accounts, unnecessary privileges, and weak authentication practices.
- Documentation alignment: Organize the records needed for internal reviews, compliance conversations, and insurance applications.

Cyber insurance is not a substitute for cybersecurity. It is a financial backstop that depends on the security controls you maintain. If your application says you use MFA, endpoint protection, tested backups, or managed detection, those statements must match reality.
Review the PWP SYSTEMS cybersecurity services and take a practical look at your current security floor. Start with identity, endpoints, backups, email, and response procedures.
Make Business Continuity Operational
On August 27, we ran a Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery awareness campaign focused on an issue many organizations postpone until the moment they need it.
A backup that has never been tested is not a complete recovery plan. A secondary internet connection that has never been used is not a proven failover strategy. A written continuity document that no one can find is not operational resilience.
Business continuity should answer basic questions:
- How quickly can your team resume core operations?
- Which systems must be restored first?
- Who is responsible for communication and decision-making?
- Where are recovery procedures and credentials stored?
- How often are backups tested and verified?
- Can your team operate if the primary office, server, or internet connection is unavailable?
Our Backup & Disaster Recovery services use automated verification, encryption, redundancy, and recovery planning to reduce uncertainty. The Member Portal also gives clients a central place to access relevant guidance and support information.

The objective is not to create a luxurious binder of policies that sits untouched on a shelf. The objective is to make recovery faster, clearer, and more repeatable when conditions are difficult.
Strengthen Physical and Network Infrastructure
August also included substantial infrastructure planning and site security work.
For OxBox, the CCTV specification was finalised with the following equipment:
- 24 UniFi G5 Pro cameras: Provide broad site visibility and stronger coverage across critical areas.
- 3 USW-Pro-24-PoE switches: Deliver centralized Power over Ethernet connectivity and simplify camera deployment.
- UNVR with 8TB storage: Provide dedicated video recording capacity and easier footage management.
This specification creates a defined surveillance platform rather than a collection of disconnected devices. That distinction matters for expansion, troubleshooting, and long-term support.
We also continued work on:
- VPN setups for secure remote and site-to-site access.
- Site security improvements.
- Network and connectivity upgrades.
- Infrastructure coordination for active client environments.
You can review our broader Managed IT Services to see how VPN management, job-site connectivity, M365 administration, SLA visibility, and proactive monitoring fit together.
Keep Support Fast and Practical
The help desk continued operating around a 15-minute response target, with remote-first resolution wherever the issue could be handled securely and efficiently.
That model helps reduce the interruption caused by a slow computer, access problem, application error, or connectivity issue. When on-site work is required, we coordinate it. When remote resolution is appropriate, we do not make you wait for a truck roll.
August support activity included remote and site assistance for:
- Gutter Supply.
- Coast to Coast.
- ADA.
- OxBox.
The result is a straightforward support experience: report the issue, see the status, receive a clear resolution, and maintain visibility through the portal. Explore the Help Desk Support service for details on response, remote resolution, ticket tracking, and after-hours support.
Looking Ahead to September
September is already moving.
- ReNew Communities tour: Scheduled for September 3 to review operational needs, infrastructure, and potential support opportunities.
- Pen-testing service: Launch preparations are continuing. The service will provide a more deliberate way to identify exploitable weaknesses before attackers do.
- Sales growth: Continued activity includes a lead pipeline of more than 1,300 opportunities, helping support future service capacity and long-term stability.
Growth is useful only when it is controlled. Our focus remains the same: build reliable systems, protect client operations, and maintain the support quality that makes long-term partnerships possible.
